BMW R1150GS Jumper Post Installation

In 2004 BMW started shipping the GS Adventurer with a feature that enabled the bike to be jumpstarted via a post attached directly to the starter. Prior to that you would have to remove the seat and try to access the battery which is located under the gas tank. Adding this feature to your bike is not that difficult and costs less than $30 in parts. The whole installation should take less than an hour with the majority of the time being spent locating and drilling the hole for the positive post in the starter cover.

• Start by removing the only screw that holds the starter cover and removing the cover to expose the starter
• Once the starter cover has been removed you will be able to access the only nut that you have to remove. It should be the upper nut but you should place a volt meter on it just to verify

Read all information in this manual carefully. All suspention components are fitted and removed acc. to the manufacturer’s specifications for fitting and removing, if not otherwise required in these instructions. Check that your vehicle type is listed in the certificate as being released for this kit. Check the product for all components before starting installation! Check that dimensions and fastening points are comparable between the original and Bilstein shock absorbers.
